That said, before we get into it, here is her ActBlue.
Finally, Brian Harrison gets a Democratic challenger!
Whether you live in Ellis County or anywhere else in Texas, you are probably well aware that Representative Brian Harrison of House District 10 is one of the most insufferable Republicans in the state.
Whether he is spamming social media or making one of his frequent media appearances, Harrison loves to be the center of attention. His bigoted and hateful opinions typically get the most attention.
Brian Harrison goes out of his way continuously to make his opinions known, including:
His hatred for the LGBTQ+ community.
His hatred for refugees and asylum seekers.
His hatred for Democrats.
His hatred for women.
His hatred for public education.
His hatred for science.
Please don’t take my word for it. Just spend a few minutes on his Twitter or Facebook to see for yourself. Or, if you can stomach it, look him up on YouTube, and you’ll find some of his appearances on NewsMax and right-wing media.
Brian Harrison has crafted his entire personality on right-wing outrage and surrounded himself in such an echo chamber that he crumbles apart when challenged. Harrison is great at right-wing politics on right-wing media and his right-wing social media platform, but he’s terrible at politics as a real-world application.
Take this moment from the last legislative session when Representative Trey Martinez Fischer asked him a few simple questions during a debate, and he completely fell apart:
(Harrison had an amendment that would have given teachers a raise at the expense of bus drivers, lunch ladies, and school nurses.)
Before being a politician, Harrison was a Labradoodle breeder.
But that’s enough about him.
After much of Texas has had to suffer through his constant spewing of hate and anger from social media and TV media and his traveling to other counties for their Republican events, it became very apparent that under any circumstances, Brian Harrison should not be running unopposed.
This week, Jennifer Brummell launched her write-in campaign against him.
In stark contrast to Brian Harrison, Jennifer Brummell embodies the values and commitment that House District 10 desperately needs. A mother of three, married for 19 years, an Air Force veteran, and an L&D nurse, Jennifer is no stranger to dedication and hard work. Her experience spans various crucial roles, giving her a unique perspective and a genuine understanding of the needs and struggles of the people in her community.
Jennifer Brummell is running for Texas State Representative of House District 10 against Brian Harrison as a write-in candidate. Her platform is built on strong progressive values and a clear vision for a better Texas. Here’s what she stands for:
Jennifer is a staunch advocate for women’s reproductive rights. She believes in comprehensive healthcare services, including contraception and safe, legal abortion. She is committed to ensuring every woman has autonomy over her body and health decisions.
Jennifer opposes school vouchers that divert critical funding away from public schools. She is dedicated to providing quality education for all students, regardless of their background or socioeconomic status. Jennifer’s commitment to public education is unwavering, and she recognizes it as the backbone of a thriving society.
As a veteran herself, Jennifer understands the importance of accessible healthcare services for veterans. She is dedicated to advocating for comprehensive healthcare, ensuring that those who served our country receive the support and care they deserve without barriers or delays.
Jennifer fights for LGBTQIA+ rights to ensure equality, dignity, and protection against discrimination in all facets of society. She promotes inclusivity and fairness for everyone, standing against the bigotry and hate that Brian Harrison represents.
Jennifer opposes book bans that restrict intellectual freedom and censor diverse perspectives. She believes in fostering critical thinking and educational growth among students, allowing them to explore a wide range of ideas and viewpoints.
Jennifer Brummell is not just running to oppose Brian Harrison but to bring real, meaningful change to House District 10. Her campaign is a breath of fresh air for those tired of the hate and division sown by her opponent. Jennifer’s dedication to her community, experience, and progressive values make her the candidate District 10 needs to advance.
What are Brummell’s chances of pulling this off?
Jennifer Brummell is facing an uphill battle as a write-in and Democratic candidate in Ellis County. While Ellis County is rapidly shifting blue, we shouldn’t expect it to be blue until the 2030s. When Republicans redrew this district in 2021, they gave themselves a +34 advantage. However, Ellis County is one of America’s fastest-growing and diversifying counties. There has undoubtedly been a leftward shift since redistricting, but we don’t know how much yet.

Again, the election is 96 days away, and Brummell is hitting the ground running and needs help immediately.
If you can afford it, consider donating to her campaign; she’ll need the money to have her name on printed material and distributed to voters.
