White Supremacy In Collin County—And The Fight Coming To Tarrant
How Republicans mobilized against a Muslim Community in North Texas.
🚨🚨TARRANT COUNTY CTA: On Wednesday, Judge Tim O’Hare proposes having a conservative consultant redraw Commissioners’ Court precincts 1 and 2, the only majority-minority districts. This is a call to action for Wednesday, April 2, 10 am at the Tarrant County Commissioners Court. (Further details at the bottom of this article.)
Racists don’t always wear hoods. Sometimes they wear nametags and proudly announce their GOP precinct number at a public hearing.
Today, a Collin County Commissioners Court meeting turned into a three-hour spectacle of coordinated Islamophobia, as Republicans from across the DFW metroplex descended on a zoning discussion to voice their fury over EPIC City, a proposed Muslim-led, master-planned community near the town of Josephine. These weren’t just local residents concerned about infrastructure or water access. They came armed with talking points about Sharia law, Hamas, “dirty bombs,” and Jesus Christ.
Despite not living in Collin County, speakers introduced themselves by name, political affiliation, and even precinct number. They came from Hunt County, Denton County, Irving, and Dallas. One by one, they lined up to oppose the project, not on legal or logistical grounds but because of who was behind it: Muslims.
And they weren’t shy about it.
Check them out (mashup):
This was no spontaneous burst of civic engagement. It was a coordinated protest, engineered by Republican operatives and right-wing activists who showed up from outside Collin County to shut down a peaceful, Muslim-led development.
What followed was a barrage of overt white Christian nationalism. Speaker after speaker declared that America was a Christian nation, founded on “Judeo-Christian values,” and warned that Muslims couldn’t be trusted to assimilate.
Institutionalized Islamophobia.
Governor Greg Abbott directed the Texas Rangers to open a criminal investigation (although he hasn’t said under what grounds) into the proposed EPIC City development. In a statement soaked in dog-whistle language, Abbott warned of “scheming” actors and promised that “justice is awaiting them.” He called the Muslim-led development a “compound,” invoking the language of extremism and militancy.
Attorney General Ken Paxton quickly followed, launching an investigation on “potential consumer protection violations.” He is focusing on EPIC as both the creator and “only beneficiary” of the project, as if a Muslim nonprofit benefiting its own faith community were somehow suspicious. This is something that is never questioned when Christian churches build private schools, senior homes, or housing projects.
When Christian groups build large-scale communities or charter schools with religious values, they’re praised as moral anchors. But when Muslims do the same? Suddenly, it’s a “threat.” Suddenly, it warrants an investigation by the Texas Rangers. Get real.
This outrage, originating from the highest halls of our government, concerns who is allowed to belong, build, and thrive, and who the state will punish for even trying. At the same time, they’re going to force public schools to display the Ten Commandments and allow teachers to pray in their classrooms.
They said the quiet part out loud.
Multiple speakers at today’s Commissioner Court warned that if EPIC City were approved, Muslims would “outvote” and “outbirth” the surrounding community, an admission that their true fear isn’t zoning violations, but demographic change.
This is the core of white supremacist ideology. The belief that cultural or religious pluralism is a threat, that any shift in who holds power is an existential crisis.
While insisting they weren’t bigots (“Don’t call us racist—we’re just patriots!”), speakers repeatedly referred to EPIC City as a “compound,” likened it to terrorist networks, and questioned whether Muslim Americans could even be trusted to follow the Constitution. Several invoked Hamas, Dearborn, and jihad. Others brought up Israel, praising it as an ally while bizarrely demanding Texas zoning decisions reflect that allegiance. Jesus Christ, not zoning law, was the name invoked most often.
If anyone questions Ken Paxton, Greg Abbott, and other Republican leaders’ attacks on the Muslim Community in Collin County, look no further than what happened today in Collin County.

Plain, old-fashioned Texas racism.
The Muslim Community in Collin County is not alone.
First, it should be very clear that around 50% of the people who attended this hearing came from outside of Collin County.
Secondly, some good folks from the Collin County Democratic Party showed up to show their support to their neighbors and community members.
Texas is changing. Truthfully, it’s already changed. We just have to get people to vote.
What happened today in Collin County, what we’ll see in Tarrant County on Wednesday, are the grasps of an ideology trying to hang on, desperate, loud, and afraid of a future it can’t control.
White Christian nationalism won’t go quietly, but its days are numbered. The crowds may still show up with their Bibles and fear-mongering, but this state’s demographics, values, and momentum are shifting.
Texas belongs to all of us. The question now is whether we have the courage to show up and prove it.
This is a call to action for Wednesday, April 2, 10 am at the Tarrant County Commissioners Court.

Im not sure where I read this was going to happen. Maybe Chris Tackett? He warned us to be there for the Muslims. Jesus would not be accepted in Texas today. It’s Sad. Unfortunately, this has happened before.
My people, Mexican Americans in 1848 and 1928, Mexican Americans were lynched, with a high concentration of lynchings occurring in Texas! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Oh so sad, the MAGA triplets are gunna run right up against the lovely Constitutional interpretation of the 1st Amendment they have been crafting. Whoops, other faith communities understand capitalism? Want to know what has happened in Irving? It is Stepford only gated Muslim and Hindi communities. And the MAGA triples are furious that someone figured out their game. Oh the LDS community in McKinney did too, but MAGA is like, sorry church’s can’t have steeples. It just is hypocrisy but hypocrisy doesn’t sell. What we need to say is WE are the American Dream, We support free markets and capitalism. They are socialists. They want the government to dictate everything.
