This Month, Two Hispanic Republicans Blast The GOP's Racism
Unmasking the Elephant in the room, as Hispanic leaders confront the GOP's dark side.
Two Hispanic Republican figures have recently cast a stark light on the party’s issues with racism. Their public critiques have echoed what many outside the GOP have asserted for years—the GOP is the party of white supremacy.
For Democrats and numerous observers across the political spectrum, the accusations of racism within the Republican Party are not revelatory; they are confirmations of a troubling pattern many have witnessed and opposed for decades. That members from within the GOP are now giving voice to these concerns lends a notable credibility to the issue—it’s a moment of truth-telling from insiders who can no longer reconcile their identity with the dissonance of their party’s rhetoric and actions.
Over the weekend, Congressman Tony Gonzales (R) took to CNN to lambast his Republican co-workers and his Republican opponent as Neo-Nazis and Klansmen.
It should be noted that Congressman Gonzales often votes along party lines with his Klansman peers, including on bills that are seen as racist to one community or another. For example, he voted against the Federal Reserve Racial and Economic Equity Act or Statehood of Puerto Rico. And when Democrats were in charge and pushed a bill to include white supremacy in the Demostic Terror Prevention Act, Gonzales voted no.
Gonzales states that his Republican peers are Klansmen, but Gonzales votes with his Republican peers on racist legislation… So, wouldn’t that make Gonzales a Klansman, too?
It’s all very confusing.
Tony Gonzales wasn’t the only Republican to call Republicans racist this month.
Bianca Garcia, the President of Latinos for Trump, recently lost a primary race against Representative Briscoe Cain in Texas House District 128. Soon after losing, she let loose on social media.
What’s even more bewildering about Bianca Garcia is she believes that we are in a “race war” with Hispanic immigrants coming to America to seek a better life.

Bianca Garcia’s admissions underscore a long-standing concern among many that racism in the Republican ranks is not just an isolated problem but a systemic one that can surface even in unexpected quarters.
The nature of these admissions sheds light on a discomforting alignment between the Republican Party and racist ideologies. Donald Trump has solidified the Republican Party as the party of white supremacy. We’ve listened to Republicans of color for years say it isn’t racism. But are they finally coming to terms?
For Hispanic Republicans, especially over these last few years, they are grappling with a sense of identity, one that seems to be currently turning against them.
So, what does this say about the Hispanic voting block in Texas?
I feel pretty confident that it doesn’t say shit. However, it is essential to know that Tony Gonzales and Bianca Garcia previously stated that the Hispanic vote in Texas is moving right.
When we look at the exit polls from 2020 to 2022, Hispanic voters for Democrats only dropped 1%. With this caveat, Democrats mostly stay home in the 2022 elections.
Also, if you look at the Republican numbers for the same years, support for Republicans dropped 1%. Which, if anything, indicates that the Hispanic vote is leaning more toward a third party.
Another factor that Republicans like to point to is how Zapata County flipped for Trump in South Texas and voted for Abbott. But I want to bring your attention to something.
The only Republican getting votes in Zapata County is at the top of the ticket. Both in 2020 and in 2022, all of the down-ballot Democrats won this county.
In Zapata County, just like the other counties Republicans say they are winning in South Texas, Democrats are still winning all of the down-ballot races.
How does this fit in with Tony Gonzales’ and Bianca Garcia’s recent revelations about racism in the Republican Party?
According to the Atlantic, in a recent article, “Is Texas About to Turn Latinos Into Single-Issue Voters?” the GOP’s racism, if anything, will push the Hispanic vote further left.
Now, if I were one of these flushed PACs trying to flip Texas blue, all I would do is repeat the Tony Gonzales clip and reprint Bianca Garcia’s words on Spanish media again and again until the picture is clear.
The Republican Party, especially the Republican Party of Texas, is the party of white supremacy. They’ve aligned themselves with Neo-Nazis, pushed racist bills, and continue to embrace the great replacement theory.
After all, even the Hispanic Republicans who have joined their ranks admit it is true.
Vote early, vote often, just vote.
