They know they are going to get sued - they want this in front of scoutus.

Outrageous that 8 people made this decision for millions of Texans. Straight up Christo-fascists.

I wrote the below to all TBOE members; my representative is Pam Little. I also made this Google sheet with all board members' names, emails, phones for anyone to use: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1UPQBZOmtmFrZbZNpdXuzo6av2EekJUMzFpgVbWO5Rx4/edit?usp=sharing

Dear Member Little,

As your constituent, I thank you for opposing that Bible-infused curriculum be included as public school materials. As a Christian, I believe that public schools should equally serve children and families of all faiths and no faith--to favor curriculum explicitly drawing on one religion fails that goal. The valid goals of teaching good character and ethics can be met without using Bible stories. The proposal allows a district school board to prioritize a certain faith to their public school students, and that is not appropriate.

Members Francis, Pickren, Young, Ellis, Maynard, Recine, and Kinsey, I disagree with your prior vote and urge you to change that vote when you vote again this Friday.

Best regards,

Cathy Murphree

Would it be helpful to have a "Chop Wood..." type feature for folks to be able to quickly copy some text and link to their reps? I'm happy as I have time to just put something like the above in replies.

This is insane. Though the urriculum is "optional", don't schools get extra funding if they use TEA approved textbooks? That seems more like a push than an option. :(

If they bring out the red capes, you can find me and mine in Switzerland.

It’s optional, for now. That’s how they creep these things in. 😭 I bet red, rural districts will choose “that option.”
