One of my action items is to write "efficiently." I hope to write something less than 200 words a few times a week and send it to my elected officials as well as Texas newspapers as letters to the editor. I do feel that is a place we can reach outside our "like minds." I've had good luck getting letters published in the DALLAS MORNING NEWS. I keep them short, factual, and avoid too much of a partisan sound--I actually try to stick to the issue and not mention parties. Again, that's just worked better for me in getting them published. I've compiled a list of Texas newspapers and where these letters can be sent, which I will share here in case anyone is interested: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1F1IZYgfw096r7IEegVzaiUMSKlIl0PPZ6vj88Go4Mrc/edit?usp=sharing

Here is how and why we lost: Crystal Gayden , Chair of Tarrant County Democratic Party , has booked the Downtown Sheraton for a fundraiser....black tie BTW.

the Downtown Sheraton is owned by GOP donors from Florida

so instead of hiring a Quinciera hall in North or South Side FTW, giving money to Dem landlords and Dem vendors she hold a decidedly undemocratic and off putting Black Tie event , unaffordable and inaccessible to the rank and file Dem of Tarrant County.

as Robert Earl Keen sings: "its the little things, the itty bitty things'

cruelty is the point:

TT says Texas will follow Trump's lead in Medicaid cuts.

This is a summary of the complicated state of affairs.

Medicaid funds Granny in the nursing home in LLano BTW.

"Texas declined additional federal money that, under the Affordable Care Act, would have allowed Medicaid to offer health care coverage to more low-income families."This is known as Medicaid Expanse and of which the very red Oklahoma and Louisiana taken advantage.....The feds fund it 90% so its not even a budget issue. It is cruelty personified for Texas to refuse it to 300k fellow Texans on what is basically a vestigial* rejection of Obamacare.

"The state was among the last to insure women for an entire year after they gave birth. And when the federal government last year ended a policy that required states to keep people on their Medicaid rolls during the coronavirus pandemic, Texas officials rushed to kick off those they deemed ineligible, ignoring persistent warnings that the speedy process could lead to some people being wrongfully removed."

*I think the lege won't do ME simply because its a throwback to the O'care wars.

thinking out loud for fellow Dems befuddled by what to do.......read Ben Wilke's comments ..... ""If Democrats hope not just to regain power but to build sustainable majorities, he argued in an interview with The Bulwark, they must undertake two somewhat brutish, fairly work-intensive tasks: direct confrontation with Republicans and direct communication with voters."

Here is in idea
