Senator Creighton Calls For Hearing To Ensure Universities Are Implementing Racist Law
Creighton's controversial crusade continues toward expanding whiteness on Texas colleges and universities.
Of all of the racist bills to come from the Texas Legislature last session, Senator Brandon Creighton’s ban on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) on college campuses is by far the worst.
To be clear, the DEI ban was 100% about white supremacy, as evident through the four-hour debate in the Texas Senate. You can see my complete analysis and several clips of that here:
Or you can listen to Representative Josey Garcia’s passionate speech on the House floor regarding this bill:
Yesterday, Creighton called for a hearing to ensure public universities followed his DEI ban. In the notice for the hearing, he asked five questions and for the answers to be provided by May 3. Those five questions were:
How has your institution ensured that there are no DEI offices or officers on campus or no individual or organization performing the duties of a DEI office or officer?
How has your institution ensured DEI training is not required for students, staff, and faculty?
How has your institution acted to comply with the prohibition on giving an applicant employment preference based on race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin?
How has your institution ensured diversity statements cannot be considered for hiring or promotion?
SB 17 requires regular audits by the State Auditor’s Office. How has your institution been preparing for this oversight action?
From the ACLU: This attack on DEI is part of a larger backlash against racial justice efforts that ignited after the 2020 killings of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor. At the time, workplaces, schools, and other institutions announced plans to expand DEI efforts and incorporate anti-racism principles in their communities. In response, far-right activists, led by Cristopher Rufo and supported by right-wing think tanks such as The Manhattan Institute, The Claremont Institute, and The Heritage Foundation, went on the offensive.
Why does Senator Creighton want to “check in” on his anti-DEI bill?”
Richard Hanania, a rising right-wing star who writes for white supremacist websites under the pseudonym Richard Hoste, posted on Twitter in February that the DEI offices at UT changed their name to prevent from closing.
This was one of the responses he received:
That was last month. Then, last week, Senator Creighton appeared on a panel at the Texas Public Policy Foundation, where they discussed banning diversity and burning books.
It’s an hour long if you have the stomach for it. Otherwise, look below for some of Creighton’s quotes on DEI.
“These Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion units across the state have been weaponized against not just other vulnerable minority populations and vulnerable affinity groups on campus, but there was collectively a neon sign above the door of HR for every public university in the state of Texas, that if you’re applying as a professor and you’re unwilling to sign a leftist, Marxist, loyalty political oath, you need not apply.”
“There’s the CRT element in the classrooms, which are designed to frontload the corporate world with new hires with a completely different indoctrination mindset to change the boardroom, the marketing divisions, and pollute corporate America.”
Huh?
Never in the history of time did applicants for college professor positions have to sign a “leftist, Marxist, loyalty political oath.” It’s absurd that those words came from his mouth, but more ludicrous that no one challenged him. The sad part is that people in that audience or watching from home would believe it.
But I think the real telling part of what Creighton said is when he talked about “polluting corporate America.” At the end of the day, economic control is a huge part of keeping the systems of white supremacy in place. So, in Republicans’ minds, if they can successfully ban diversity in Texas colleges, then they can ban diversity in the C-suites of corporations and maintain economic control.
From NBC News: Anti-DEI laws are wiping out tools helping Hispanic students enroll and graduate. “The elephant in the room is racism,” the president of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities said.
Currently, the Hispanic population outnumbers the Anglo population in Texas.
Senator Creighton’s call for a hearing in May is to stroke tension in an already contemptuous election year.
The date for the hearing hasn’t been set yet, but I’ll be watching, and I’ll keep y’all updated. We know what Republicans’ end-game is. The only way to stop it is to flip the Texas House.
Plan on voting. Get involved locally. Talk to your inner circle about voting. This year has to be big because it can and will get worse if we don’t stop them.

I am formulating and agruement that would make it past newspaper editorial gatekeepers.....calling R's racist won't work...plus no one cares how racist R's are.
my argument, still a work in progress goes something like this : Any R candidate in 2024 runs with the full knowledge and understanding they will be beholding to trump and not any constitution or voter.
In my case to replace an arugably responsible Reagan Republican Kay Granger, Craig Goldman will have to swear fealty to Trump above all else and by definition become a MAGA Insurrectionist.
Feel free to use any part of this arguement in ur districts or towns.
