Living Blue Rebranding And Updates From The Legislature
Don't worry, the only thing changing is the name.
Why rebrand?
In 2013 I was invited to admin the Living Blue in Texas Facebook page. There were around 5,000 followers back then. It was a collaborative effort. In the beginning, there were five of us, and we all became close friends. Living Blue in Texas was a spinoff (and started by) Living Blue in a Red State. All the states had spinoffs, but Texas was by far the most popular.
Hard to believe that was a decade ago. I’m still an admin for that page, but a lot has changed since then, and it’s time for a name change (me, not them).
Trump. Fucking Donald Trump. He broke us as a society, as a nation, and he broke the tight-knit admin group of Living Blue in Texas. During the Trump presidency, three of them had to step back from politics for their own sanity. Who can blame them? Living Blue in Texas was a news aggregator, and with Trump in charge, the news was almost always terrible.
In 2020 when Covid first hit, my youngest and I got sick. She was only eight months old, and this was before there were Covid tests available. Pneumonia is all they could diagnose without a Covid test. What was coming out from Trump and Abbott was constant lies and misinformation. That’s when I started the LivingBlueTX website. Unlike the others, who had to take a step back, I had to dive in head first.
The reason I went with that name, LivingBlueTX, is only because of Living Blue in Texas. Maybe it was uncreative, but there was a built-in audience, which made the most sense at the time. But now it’s time to move away from “LivingBlueTX.”
The LivingBlueTX website is still up and will stay up indefinitely. I’m still one of the Living Blue in Texas Facebook page admins, and you can still see my content there. Over the next week, I will change the name of my official Facebook page and the Living Blue in Texas Discussion Group. However, I will not be changing my Twitter name because it would cause a billion links on the internet to break. And all new content will be published on LoneStarLeft.
What’s up with the Texas Legislature?
Our water is poisonous:
They want to make it a felony to make a mistake on a ballot:
Tony Tinderholt is racing to the bottom with constant crying:
And Cody Vasut gave us a perfect display of bowing to crony capitalists:
Tomorrow is the last day to file bills. I’ve been keeping track, and woooo, there are some doozies. Next week, we’ll go over the worst of the worst and the best of the best. Committees just started last week, and many haven’t even heard bills yet, but it’s coming.
Senator Huffman is holding the first redistricting hearing next Thursday. I’m hoping many citizens and civil rights groups show up and hand it to her. I’ll keep you updated. Things are starting to move, but there is a lot of infighting in the Texas GOP, and I’m optimistic that it will hurt them from passing some of the worst legislation.
Stay tuned.
