Just a quick aside about the Alamo. The fight to win independence from Mexico was, at least in part, about slavery. Mexico did not permit slavery. So, Texas won its independence, and its right to own slaves in 1836. It decided that it wanted to join the United States in 1845. Then, it seceded with the Confederates less than 20 years later (once again, defending its right to own slaves).
Yes, I'm aware. Maybe I should have clarified further about the symbolism vs. the actual history. Most of Texas history, including the Alamo, was based on slavery, the Confederacy, or racism. 😭😭
a quick note to my Congressman, Craig Goldman TX-12.
Dear Craig
Can u get Musk and his team of 12 year olds to root around and find out how many fed employees in Dist 12 who took the buyouts were going to retire in 3 months anyway?
I think MD mentioned him in an earlier issue....great book on slavery and not
'Tomlinson Hill" by Chris Tomlinson...white.....the other Tomlinson is L.T. perhaps the world's greatest running back, excellent human being, great Texan, Horned Frog and black.
Another great read....."Black Like Me'. by John Griffin, from Dallas. You have to read his bio on Wiki....he's like no one you ever heard about....He chronicled life in Jim Crow south by tinting his skin dark and passing a negro and then writing all about it. They made a movie. His son is a friend from McClean Jr. Hi and Paschal.
we are definitely in Jim Crow 2.0 ......
"Federal health workers are expressing fear and alarm after a website called “DEI Watch List” published the photos, names and public information of a number of workers across health agencies, describing them at one point as “targets.”
It’s unclear when the website, which lists mostly Black employees who work in agencies primarily within the Department of Health and Human Services, first appeared."
I had to read "Black Like Me" in my Texas History class a few semesters ago. It was my first time reading it. I understand it was from another era, and it was a good read, but it felt a lot like "Black Face."
Tomlison's book on the Alamo was called, "Forget the Alamo."

interestingly, the very now red Tarrant County voted to secede by only like a dozen votes
I disagree with "very red." I would say, "Mostly non-voting."

and there was always the threat of violence.....
