David Lowe Made Veiled Threats On My Life, Now He's Running For The Legislature
From violent rhetoric to Nazi-aligned campaign backing, as a legislator Lowe would be threat to our communities.
Over a year ago, a Republican contacted me and wanted to tell me all about Jonathan Stickland’s gay sister. Of course, I thought it was interesting, considering the frequency with which Stickland used genocidal language toward the LGBTQ community.
I was given Stickland’s sister’s TikTok account. She is very out of the closet and proud of it. I sent her one comment, which was something about how I wanted to ask her a question about her brother. She responded immediately, “I’m not in politics; talk to my brother about any question you have.”
Fine. I’m a nice person. I said okay, and that was the end of it. Of course, if she had been willing to talk to me, I would have asked her how she reckons with her relationship with her brother, knowing that her brother believes her to be an abomination and wants her dead. But I never got that chance.
A few days later, Jonathan Stickland tagged me on Twitter and said, “Family was off limits. His Family wasn’t even political.”
Of course, in his time in the Legislature and afterward working with Tim Dunn Republicans, Stickland has moved mountains to harm countless families in Texas. LGBTQ people and their families are not off limits for Republicans unless they’re the clueless sibling “who isn’t into politics.”
That’s when David Lowe responded to Stickland’s now-deleted post, saying, “Stay loaded.”
For the record, I’ve never murdered anyone or cut off any penises. (I’m just not that kind of girl.)
The term “stay loaded,” popular among firearm enthusiasts, is a slang term that they use to mean “get ready to shoot a perceived threat.” It’s a rallying cry for 2A enthusiasts to reinforce their shared values with one another.
This rallying cry was directed straight at me, but it’s possible he meant Democrats in general, or maybe he meant journalists. What does the mind of a maniac look like?
This is not normal human behavior.
When someone says online, “Don’t contact my family about my behavior. They aren’t into politics.” Only a psychopath would respond, “They are cutting off penises, stay loaded.”
Maybe Stickland deleted his post because he realized how bad it made Lowe look. However, Lowe’s response post is still there, even though I immediately blocked him after that.
Unstable people are allowed to run for office.
In fact, this is Lowe’s second time running for office for HD91 against Representative Stephanie Klick. Last time, it went to a runoff, and Klick won.
This year, these two are in a runoff again, but Lowe also has the backing of Nazi-aligned billionaires Tim Dunn and Ferris Wilks. This election cycle, the Nazi-aligned groups from West Texas have already given Lowe $125,000.
Here is what Klick had to say about his campaign:
Don’t get me wrong; Klick is also horrendous and has been behind some fairly awful legislative policy. They don’t call her the Wicked Witch of Watauga for nothing.
However, we know that Klick will not likely shoot up the Texas House if she doesn’t get her way. I’m not sure the same thing can be said for David Lowe.
Unfortunately, there is not a Democrat running in this seat.
During the 2022 election, there was a lot of chatter in Tarrant County about Lowe and his vile obsession with children’s genitals, especially with various mom groups who were sickened over his constant social media posts about children’s private parts. He was another Bryan Slaton, another Nate Schatzline, and another person often talked about in terms of searching their browser history.
The only difference is that Slaton and Schatzline never talked about shooting people.
HD91 Democrats can stop Lowe from going to Austin.
If you're a resident of this district and did not participate in the Democratic primary, you must take action now by casting your vote against David Lowe. Although Stephanie Klick is awful, Lowe's prospect in office is alarming.
David Lowe's rhetoric and behavior, endorsed by extremist figures, paint a disturbing picture of what his potential leadership might look like. His aggression and inappropriate fixation on divisive, harmful subjects signal a future with further toxicity in our Legislature—a place already burdened by too much conflict and not enough constructive dialogue.
Klick, for all her faults, at least presents a known quantity. We know her political maneuvers and her legislative style, problematic though they may be. However, with Lowe, the stakes feel different and more dangerous. His penchant for incendiary and violent rhetoric and his unsettling social media presence suggest a readiness to escalate conflict rather than resolve it.
Voting against David Lowe isn't just a choice between two political evils; it's a necessary stance to prevent a figure who could further degrade the quality of our political discourse from gaining power. It's about safeguarding our community against more than bad policies—it’s about protecting the legislative process from violent people.
So, if you skipped the Democratic primary, consider this your call to duty. Your vote could help steer the course away from a potentially hazardous leader. Head to the polls and make your voice heard. It's not just a vote against Lowe; it's a vote for maintaining some semblance of stability and decency in our government.
