Blizzards In Beaumont And La Migra In San Antonio
Extreme weather, ICE raids, and the costs of ignorance.
Today, a Blizzard Warning has been issued along the Interstate 10 corridor, affecting Southeastern Texas and Southwestern Louisiana. This marks the first blizzard event in the history of the Gulf Coast.
Last night, Dictator Trump signed an executive order withdrawing us from the Paris Climate Agreement. Pulling out of the Paris Climate Agreement is a death sentence for millions. Scientists have warned us for decades that climate change will lead to more frequent and severe weather events—blizzards, hurricanes, heat waves, and droughts. Yet here we are, with leadership that can’t be bothered to grasp basic science.
This is what happens when an entire political movement trades reason for rhetoric. When they chant about “freedom” but can’t seem to free their brains from 19th-century fossil fuel propaganda. The uneducated right celebrates these rollbacks as if they’ve just won a cultural war when, in reality, they’ve only secured a future of misery for their children and grandchildren.
It’s a national embarrassment. The rest of the world watches in disbelief as one of the largest carbon emitters gleefully reverses course, undoing what little progress has been made. The people who cheered this move, who voted for this stupidity, are signing their own death warrants while smugly insisting they’re owning the libs.
Nothing says ‘winning’ like beachfront snowstorms and climate denial.
The blizzard will delay the Texas House schedule this week.
Yesterday, Speaker Dustin Burrows issued a memo stating that the House will convene on Wednesday as planned, but only because they are constitutionally required to. He added that Wednesday’s session will be brief.
This undoubtedly means that the House’s Housekeeping resolution and rules will not be debated tomorrow. The House will gavel back in on Thursday (Day Nine), and we can assume that the members will then discuss housekeeping and rules.
The Texas Senate is also scheduled to meet on Wednesday. However, Dan Patrick has not put out any statements regarding weather delays. Lt. Governor Patrick is a true capitalist and expects Senators and staff to risk their lives coming to work on the icy roads.

La Migra viene - it’s time to be a good neighbor and ally.
Here are essential Spanish phrases you need to remember:
La Migra = ICE
No digas nada. = Don’t say anything.
Pida un abogado. = Ask for a lawyer.
Yesterday, Texas Public Radio reported that San Antonio will be one of the first targets for Trump’s immigration raids. Although San Antonio is reported to be the first target, other Texas cities will follow. The Texas government will comply.
If you see any vehicles like the ones below pull up to a business or an apartment, you should shout outside, as loud as you can, “La Migra. La Migra.”
If you witness an ICE raid, don’t interfere, but it’s important to tell the people who are being detained, “No digas nada” and “Pida un abogado.”
It is more critical than ever to be an ally to our immigrant communities. ICE’s raids don’t just enforce arbitrary laws, they tear families apart, devastate communities, and sow fear among those who came here in search of a better life. These aren’t just nameless individuals being targeted. They are parents, children, friends, and neighbors. They are the people who prepare our food, build our homes, and care for our loved ones. Without them, our economy and our society would collapse.
Make no mistake, these raids are designed to inflict harm. They are cruel and calculated, targeting the most vulnerable among us while perpetuating the xenophobic narrative that immigrants are to blame for the country’s problems. But we know better. Immigrants contribute immeasurably to the fabric of our nation, and it is up to us to stand up and defend them when their rights and dignity are under attack.
Families will be separated. Children will be traumatized. Communities will be left in disarray. These are the real consequences of ICE’s actions. When a parent is taken away, their children are left behind, often scared, confused, and without support. It’s not just cruel. It’s an assault on the very idea of family and humanity.
Trump is in office now and it’s go time. Lives are at stake.
Every act of allyship, no matter how small, matters. Whether it’s shouting a warning, offering legal aid, or simply standing in solidarity with your immigrant neighbors, you have the power to make a difference.
Know the signs of an ICE raid and understand your rights and the rights of those being targeted. Share this information widely, especially with immigrant communities. If you see ICE in your community, don’t stay silent.
If it’s safe to do so, record what you see. Videos and photos can hold ICE accountable for misconduct or abuses of power. Always keep a safe distance, and never interfere directly, but your recordings can serve as vital evidence.
The fight for justice and dignity isn’t easy, but it’s necessary. We must stand together and send a clear message. We will not allow fear and hatred to destroy our communities. Immigrants are not strangers. They are part of our families, our neighborhoods, and our lives. And we will protect them.
This moment demands courage, compassion, and unwavering solidarity.
We cannot afford to look away while climate disasters wreak havoc and immigrant families are ripped apart. These crises are the result of systemic failures, fueled by greed, ignorance, and the deliberate dehumanization of the most vulnerable among us.
The fight for climate justice, immigrant rights, and a better world won’t be won overnight, but it starts with each of us. It starts with showing up, speaking out, and refusing to back down.
We didn’t start the fire, but it’s on us to make sure they don’t burn everything down.

i honestly thought Red Texas would be last on the list. Hopefully after they drag 1 High School-er on the way to class or a Mom dropping off her kids people will get it. I assume they are smarter than that, or sneakier....but to mass raid you need a major employer , like a Panhandle feed lot. SA large construction or Military Reservation construction is likely union and well documented . Residential and small construction sites don't have dozen's of undocs....maybe a roofing job or concrete job have 3 or 4 out of 12 guys undoc'ed .......
So the biggest point source for warm bodies is Church, School, public hospitals, Quncieras, Weddings. In SA , House parties and then people ratting out their neighbors.
a better idea....run down to the newly Red Valley and pick up all those migrant vegetable pickers...
We all know Abbott will readily and giddily comply...no assault on the soverignty of the state or the safety of its citizens is too great balanced against Abbott abject venality and cruelty. Did i mention at the inaug?...His pics looked like he was blowing the Orange Fuhrer?
Any one remember; Do it legally ....wait in line.....
